The centre for tax analysis in developing countries

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) is seeking a Research Assistant to join the TaxDev team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, policy-relevant research on taxation, social protection, and public finances in low- and middle-income countries. Working closely with Research Director Professor François Gerard and a team of international researchers, the successful candidate will participate in various aspects of the research process, including literature reviews, data analysis, and writing academic papers and policy briefs.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in economics (or an excellent bachelor's degree with strong STATA and micro-econometric analysis skills), at least one year of relevant work or research experience preferably in public policy or international development, and excellent quantitative data processing and analysis skills. They should also possess strong writing abilities, problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a diverse team.

The position is ideal for those with a strong interest in public finance and development issues, offering a great opportunity for professional growth and potential PhD preparation.

This full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months is based in London.
